What to bring

 

  •  On the water you will need to wear warm and light weight clothing, you could potentially get wet.
  • Lightweight footwear/trainers
  • Leggings/tracksuit bottoms
  • Fleece or thermal top to wear under the spray top we provide
  • Any medication you may need

 

 Off the water you will need

  • Spare change of clothing & footwear
  • Towel
  • Packed lunch and hot drink

Directions
Course takes place on the North lake at Roman Lakes in Marple near Stockport. Lakes Road, Marple, Stockport, SK6 7HB

From Junction 27, M60 at Stockport follow A626 signposted Marple. On arriving in Marple go straight on at the first traffic lights through the town centre up the hill (B6101). At the top of the hill you cross the canal and the main road turns to the right. Bear left onto Oldknow Road with the village green on your right. Then at crossroads go straight on across Arkwright Road onto Faywood Drive. This becomes Lakes Road turns into a rough track which leads to Roman Lakes Leisure Park. Cross the River Goyt bridge and follow road round to the right.

The North lake is the first lake you come to after crossing the River Goyt. A small gravel parking area can be found through a gate on your left.

Food and Drink
For full day courses please bring your own packed lunch and a hot drink. Not all our venues have facilities on site.

Who runs the course?
We use a variety of qualified and experienced coaches and guides to run our courses and trips. All are trained, qualified and experienced in the type of cameoing or kayaking offered and are also first aid qualified. We may also have trainee instructors working on our courses with us to gain valuable experience. 

INSTRUCTOR / PARTICIPANT RATIOS
Maximum 1 instructor/guide to max 8 participants for this course.

Timings
Full day courses will run from 10am to 4pm 

Half day courses run from 10am to approximately 1pm

Please arrive 15 minutes before the start time. You should be finished and ready to leave at the finish times shown.

What is NOT included

  • Transport to and/or from the venue 
  • Personal Activity Insurance cover - We strongly recommend that you take out your own policy for activity insurance. 
  • The cost of any BCU certificates/awards if applicable

Equipment
Equipment is provided unless stated otherwise. You are welcome to use your own equipment if preferred. Equipment for our beginners course includes kayak, paddle, Spraydeck, Buoyancy Aid and waterproof spray Top.
